Self-Discipline

I started a quiet time binder last week, and one of my sections is for my kids!  For now I have a calender from Mom and Loving It! Ministries that gives me a different topic each day to pray for my children

Today's is self-discipline, and is from Proverbs 1:3.  Each day there is a topic, a mini prayer, and the verse it is from.

"Father, I pray that my children may develop self-discipline, that they may acquire 'a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair.'"

I then either journal a little about this or expand the prayer a little more.  Today I was impressed with the idea how our society as a general has less self-discipline, takes less responsibility for actions, and is less prudent!  (I did a Proverbs study that included how we, especially women, are to be prudent~ yes it is a good thing!)

My prayer is that the hubby and I will be able to raise our children to take responsibility for their actions, have self-discipline, and be prudent, regardless of what society is like or tells them.

I think that right now, it is pressed on parents and children that their actions are not their fault, or that it's ok to miss a class, be late for work, or so on.

Right now more then ever, there is a need for God's word- exactly like He has it!  No softening it so you don't offend someone, or twisting it to say what you want.  We need to take God's Word at what it is!  The Truth!
