3 years...

So I realized that 3 years ago this month, I started The Gandy's Home Base blog!

Wow, three years ago...  we were packing up our house in Colorado to be full time in our trailer and rent out the house!  We had one kid and one dog, now we are up to 3 kids, 2 dogs, 10 chickens, 2 goats and 2 kittens!  We have traveled the nation and even the world since then...  Our faith was not a priority in our life or marriage, we didn't really ever attend church.  Now we can not live without ours!

The blog was for family members to keep track of us on our travels!  Now it is expanded to over 6,000 total views from all over the world, including Saudi Arabi, France, Germany, China, and much more.  I have amazing followers who I love dearly and am so glad you have chosen to follow what I have to say!

Here is a look back at some of the most popular posts of the last three years.

Master Bedroom HOMEmakers Challenge

My Fall Quiet Time Binder

Summer Update

Chocolate Pops

Is tomorrow really the end?

I am looking forward to what 2012 will be like.  I am going to be working on better content for the blog, being more consistant and posting more challenges and projects along with devotionals and just plain life!

Thank you again for making this blog possible!  I am truely amazed that people actually want to read what I have to say, even when sometimes it just doesn't make much sense!

*just a little laugh for you all, my original post had said 2 years... I think I need to go back and learn some math! :)  *

My word for 2012

I have noticed a lot of people picking a word for the new year.  A word that will describe how they want to live and do things differently... I started to think about it, how can I pick just one word?  There are so many things I want to change or do this year.  And just ONE word?  That is tough!

But...

I did it.  I was reading through comments on another blog, and all the different words people were picking and thinking Oh, thats a good one, so is that... But only one kept popping into my head.  It goes with my verse of the year too.

Immerse.  It means to involve oneself deeply into something.

I want to immerse myself into God's Word.

I want to immerse myself into worship and service.

I want to immerse myself into my marriage.

I want to immerse myself into my friendships.

I want to immerse myself into my kids.

I want to immerse myself into our new church.

I want to immerse myself into this amazing world God has given us.

I don't want to hold back this year, I want to give my all to whatever I am doing at the moment... I don't want to do something only part way, or give myself part way to someone.

Do you have a word that describes 2012 and what you want it to be?  Or how you want to live?  Please share!

Happy New Year!

Well... this was an interesting New Year for me!  We went to our neighbor's barn for their annual New Year's Eve party.  Just a little secret I am going to let you all in on... I am not very good at social situations.  I love them, but am not good at them!  Tonight I had at least 2 very awkward situations, 1 trying to talk to people but ended up talking about the train crash outside our house... and to say the least my conversation was a train crash!  Next was someone trying to say hi from long long time ago and well... I didn't say much and it was UGLY (that is just putting it nicely), even Greg sitting there, who usually saves me, was uncomfortable by it all!  Then the New Year's Eve spokeswoman (some lady all dolled up and perky) was pushy about dancing... We don't dance.  Part of our prenups! (Just kidding... but maybe we should have!)

So, we had great food, good time for a little, and then my train crash... And well add all that on top of my first night out from the baby, and being very very sleep deprived, I ended up in tears by 10:15 and came home...

I made it to midnight (it is actually 12:45, got sucked into a NCIS I haven't seen yet) wished the hubby a Happy New Year and then off to bed.

Oh and to make tonight even tougher, Isaac (new baby) is in the kids' room for the first time tonight!  Oh my can I just add another thing to the night?!?!

So now I am left thinking about my 2011 and what I want in 2012.  So I have come up with these resolutions/goals for the coming year.

*Start working on loosing some of this baby weight and getting healthier! (by the way this is baby weight from 2007 and baby #1!)

*Build a stronger love relationship with the Lord

*Read through the entire Bible this year and read more of it to the kids

*Build a farm and start a little home business with it

*work on our marriage, bring us closer to the Lord together

*become debt free and start building savings/emergency fund/vacation $

*build up the blog, get more consistent on it, and make it more successful

So what was your New Year's Eve like?  What are your resolutions for the year to come?  I would love to hear from you!
