To A Different Drum...

I recently read an amazing autobiography about Dr. Pauline G. Hamilton, a missionary to China and Taiwan from 1947 to 1978, called To A Different Drum.

To a Different Drum: The Autobiography of Dr. Pauline Hamilton (An OMF Book)
What an amazing story of trusting God, going where called, and sharing the love of Jesus no matter what.

I loved how Hamilton wrote her life story, there were times I was laughing at her situation, crying with her, and finding myself fearing for her as well.

This story really hit close to home for me, as right now we are on our way to start preparing for a life in missions.  This is something that kinda hit out of nowhere, as the hubby and I never really felt called until last year!  We have no idea where or when God will send us, we were just told to prepare!  So, upon reading "Grandma Han's" story I really started to see what life would be like...

You can get this book for as little as $0.01 + shipping right now on Amazon.com (used of course)

What Have I learned from blogging...

I have been blogging since May 2009 and in that time I have learned quite a bit...

I first started this blog to keep family updated with our travels and so they could keep up with how the kids are growing...  I then started to look around at different blogs and boy there is a whole new world out there...  Templates, widgets, linkies, oh and let's not even get into HTML code!

I learned that I could spend way too much time perfecting my blog to catch up with those who have been blogging for years (or those who could afford to hire someone to design it for them!).

With the help of some friends, I was able to understand most of what I needed to start...  Now I am getting better at designing the blog.

I still need to learn how to manage my time on the blog, write a little more in depth content, and of course letting God shine through my blog even more!

I have learned that although I love the blogging world and have met some amazing people along the way, it doesn't replace face to face contact with people!

I have learned that there is still so much to learn and so much that I can do, however I need to make sure that I let my blog reflect me and not try to be be something/someone it isn't!

1 John Study with Good Morning Girls

Today kicked off the fall session of Good Morning Girls and the study of 1 John!  I got up a little earlier with no trouble, had some breakfast, made my cup of coffee and settled on to the bed with Bible, notebook and pen...

This 12 week study breaks down the book of 1 John to, most days, only a verse a day!  They use the SOAP method

S~ Write out the SCRIPTURE of the day
O~ Write out 1-2 OBSERVATIONS from that scripture
A~ Write out 1-2 APPLICATIONS from daily scripture
P~ PRAY over what you learned

So simple!

Well, today was 1 John 1:1

"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched- this we proclaim concerning the Word of life."

Question I am leaving with you today...

Are you proclaiming the things you know, things you have touched, have seen, have heard concerning the Word of life?

I know I am not doing it as much as I should!

My prayer is that I will proclaim the things I have seen, heard, touched that glorify Him and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ so that others may come to know Him and love Him and spend eternity with Him in Heaven.

Sunday Update

Well, it is Sunday...  Two weeks later and we are still working on this deck, however Greg told me last night there is light at the end of the tunnel!  We should be done in the next few days!!!  Which means we can continue on our move to the west coast!  This is the longest move I have ever made! :)  Oh well.

We are hoping that we can have my grandparents travel with us to WA. (They have a 5th wheel trailer that my mom would like to have parked at her house in case we need some extra space.)  And to save Greg from having to drive back to WY pick up the camper then turn around and drive back... it would be much easier for them to follow us! (We are praying this works out!)

So that is what is going on with us.  Chloe is cruising around furniture and will soon be walking!  :)  She is saying dog dog, DaDa, Thank You and Uh-Oh! :)  Very cute!

So off to sealing I go.  If you are going to seal wood, any type~ log home, deck, anything, check out One Time Wood!  It is a little more expensive, but lasts up to 7 years!!! :)

I am also trying out a new product from My Memories, a digital scrapbooking program!  Look for the review plus a giveaway to win the program and a discount code!  (I want to try it out first...)
