A Beautiful Saturday filled with laundry

Today is a beautiful day.  The sun is shining, there are no clouds in the baby blue sky and I am stuck inside doing laundry.  It is my own fault for not doing it sooner in the week or getting it done throughout the week.  Oh well... I am trying to make sure that I don't have any chores to do on Sunday and really soak in the day of rest.  (or day of play in our house).  Greg is working today.  He had two days off this week, due to weather so he is trying to get in his 40 hours.

Today would be a perfect day to go to the beach.  However the beach is a good 15 miles and well the car is in about 15 pieces still.  I am not complaining about that.  We just did our taxes last night and will be getting a large refund back so in about 2 weeks, my car will be back together!  (Well, Greg's car since I hope to get the truck back!)
We are both struggling this morning with our refund.  It is large enough that we can afford to move back to CO, live for a month and work on the cabin, and pay off some immediate debt.  Or it is enough to stay here, put some $ into a house we don't own, pay off all debt (except the truck), and save some.  It is such a tempation for us to pack up and run.  ( I know this is going to be read by some that live here, so don't read too much into my words!)  I think that if God wanted us to be back in CO a job would open up for Greg and we wouldn't be running from here.  Either way I am looking forward to paying off some bills, being able to hopefully find some medical insurance for the kids, and at least fly back and see my Grandparents and introduce them to Chloe.

Well, clothes are almost done in the dryer, better go and get to folding and putting away! :)  I think I want this in our laundry room!

I am a worrier...  I worry about everything, money, clothes for the kids, our car and getting it fixed, Greg when he is at work, my family, and so many other things.  I really have tried hard to give it all over to God and trust that He knows what is going on and what will happen, but it is a struggle I deal with daily.

We are taking a Christian parenting Sunday School class right now (taught by our Mentor Mom from MOPs and her hubby!) and it is amazing.  They read an article on Sunday (and again at MOPs) from Trey Morgan, a husband, father and pastor down in Texas.  The one that struck me the most was :

■It must frustrate God when I worry about things. I can’t imagine the frustration of having one of my children worry about me providing for him. I can’t imagine one of my kids saying, “Dad, are you sure you’re going to be able to feed me, clothe me and take care of me?” I would say, “What do you think I am, a horrible father? Stop worrying, I’m going to take care of you.” But we still worry and God probably sits back and thinks, “Why are you worrying? Have I ever not been able to meet your needs?”

Can you imagine if your three year old came up to you and asked if you had enough $ for rent, for food, for the car to be fixed?  I would be devastated!  As parents it is our job to take car of our children, and not have them worry about these things.  Don't you think God feels the same way?
In Matthew 6:25 Jesus tells us "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?"  Jesus commands us not to worry.  Have you ever thought of it as a command NOT to worry?  I haven't, I struggle with it a lot!  This doesn't mean we are to just sit back and let life go, we have to be responsible with what God has given us.  But when something comes up, don't worry about it.  Pray.  Seek God's wisdom in the situation.  Trust Him that He knows everything that has happened, is happening and is going to happen!

Jesus continues on in verses 26 and 27 in Matthew 6, "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"  I find verse 27 almost humorous...  Worrying is stressful on your body, it probably can shorten your life!  Those with high stress (worry) tend to have higher blood pressure, and a strained heart.

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own." ~Matthew 6:33-34
I recommend reading Matthew 6:25-34 anytime you start to feel the weight of the world overwhelming you.  Seek God's kingdom first.  Simple as that!

Good Morning Wednesday!

Wow!  Wednesday all ready.  I guess my week is a little thrown off having Greg home last Friday then Monday and Tuesday!  It was a good, well needed rest for him, and honestly I needed the time with Greg as well!

We celebrated Jacob's 4th birthday on Saturday with a ton of friends!  After starting the morning off a little rough (a cake that stuck to the pan, a fondant disaster, and over all stressing out... everything came together for an absolutely perfect party!  Jacob had never had so many presents his entire life!  The kids had a blast and I think the parents had a good time chatting with everyone!  I had friend from high school come up (we haven't seen each other in 6+ years!) with her family and had a great time reconnecting!  The night wrapped up with a small dinner party and a loud game of Apples to Apples!  :)    Jacob with his panda pillow pet for learning his  letters, but then his dog one from his friend Morgie and her family! (the best present of the day!)

Another blast from the past on Sunday when we went bowling!  Oh it was so much fun!!  We had lunch at church then packed up 15 of us for a few games!  Even the kiddos got to play and had a great time!  My baby boy even got a strike!!! :)

We had our second to last meeting of ALPHA, and this was on healing.  Greg and I share the same point of view that we know God can do anything and is all powerful, but we sometimes get skeptical of the huge healing revivals!  I found as we were going around praying for the women in our group (men and women split) I steered more towards praying for other needs other than physical.  I know that God can heal these women and so I asked that if it is in His will then it be done, but spent a lot of time in thanksgiving for each of these women and how they impacted my (and my families) life.

What are your thoughts on healing, the laying of hands, large healing revivals?  Do you have a testimony to share?  We would love to hear it!

Well, now I am off to MOPs this am! What a needed blessing!  Have a beautiful Wednesday!
