This Weeks Blog Spot Light

A little about Mo's Place:
I'm a wife, a friend, and a daughter, what I am not, is a mother.
When diagnosed with infertility issues I became quite aware of what a taboo
subject this is among women. I scoured the internet for points of view and
ideas and possible fixes. I was desperate. What I came to realize as time
went on is that there were a lot of voices out there from a lot of different
walks of life on this subject but not too many were asking the question, 'as
a Christ follower how does infertility affect me?' I didn't have a lot of
answers but I felt a strong desire to create this blog in an effort to give
a truthful, raw, sometime not too Christlike view on how someone like me who
is a Christ follower handles these trials of infertility. I wanted to do it
out loud as a way to find healing and understanding for myself and as a
possible blessing for someone else just like me, who is lost by the news of
it all and is looking for a little perspective. God has a plan, He knows
what he is doing and remembering that on this journey has proven to be the
hardest test to pass.

Please make sure to stop by Mo's Place today.
This morning I am having a very hard time thinking of something very profound and amazing to type! :)  So I think what I will do is share our little conversation with Jacob last night about Easter and what it means and why we celebrate it!  I hae always been so nervous about sharing the Gospel with someone, just out of fear that I may not say the right thing, or something like that... You know those fears, right?
Well Jacob got an ICB Bible for his birthday and one night I told him I would start reading some of it every night to him before bed... Boy has he held me to it!  Some days I will read 2-3 chapters, others (like last night) were only half of one.  But we are starting in Matthew and working our way through the New Testement.  We read the second half of Matthew 4 last night and some how we started talking about why Jesus came to earth.  Well the words just started coming... And by my surprise they were right!!!!  We talked about how we are all sinners (we have talked about this before and he completely grasps it and knows it!) and how God is just so perfect that He can't be with us.  And how He sent Jesus (who is God too~ still a hard one to understand 3 in 1?) to come and die for us so we can go to Heaven and be with God, but only if we ask Jesus into our life and heart.

Jacob then said how he didn't want Jesus to die, but then we talked about how He came back to life!
"How did He do that?"
He just did, He is God He can do ANYTHING!  Then my favorite part...
"Pretty lucky for Him then."
Straight faced...  Oh my love!

We talked about how Jesus was in the tomb and the stone rolling away and Jesus talking to the "two sisters" and then his friends.  There must have been a lesson in Sunday School or Children's Church because he knew that part.  And we talked about how Jesus then went up to heaven to be with God and how one day He will come back again and if we have asked Jesus into our hearts, then we get to go with him!  All of us!

We have shared this before, about how to get to heaven, what you need to do, etc.  But with Easter growing closer and closer, it is just so perfect that this get "nailed" in to him.  I don't know if he is the right age to e this decision, but if he is God knows.  If he isn't then you know, I am doing what I am supposed to and teaching Jacob God's word and what it means to be a Christian and why we celebrate different holidays.
If you haven't, take some time this next week and talk to your kiddos about why we celebrate Easter.  It is one of the most important holidays celebrations (I like that word better!) that we as Christians celebrate! Share with your kiddos, God will give you the words needed!

"In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost." Matthew 18:14

Becoming an Orderly Child

I have been trying to plan out our school lessons ahead of time and finally got to it yesterday!  I printed everything out, cut pieces out to be prepared, put all the pages in order, figured out exactly what we were going to do today!  Let me say it has been a much better day!

We are working on Homeschool Creations's preschool garden pack.  (Plus the free bonus pack for linking up to the garden challenge!)  I needed something that would fill the week before Easter, and although it is raining out today, the garden pack seemed to be a good fit!

I am also starting Hubbard's Cupboard's character trait lessons.  It worked out that this weeks lesson is on being orderly and there was a few activities that worked on putting things in order!  I love how that works out.

As soon as I can get to the store, probably Saturday, I am going to pick up materials for a morning board.  I have reviewed quite a few of them, and really like the transition that they make along with helping the kiddos learn about time, calenders, weather, temperature and $.  I have taken some of my ideas and printouts from the following sites:  Mama Jenn, Homeschool Creations, Delightful Learning, and 1+1+1=1.  I loved the large calender from Delightful Learning and am thinking of doing a calender and morning board.  I also loved Delightful Learning'sWho to Pray for spot.  I think switching out different pictures will be a great way to help the kiddos picture who they are praying for.

But none of this will take place until next week, but that is OK by me!  I need to get some printer ink too! :)  (I have noticed that I sure do go through a lot, but I am also making two copies for the kids and then a hard copy for my files (this way I have it in the future and don't have to be connected to the Internet if I need a copy of something.)

What are some tips that you have for home school planning?  How much time do you spend with your preschooler?  (this has been a dilemma for me as Jacob just turned four and will be home at least another year and Hanna the little girl I watch and do preschool with is going off to kindergarten next year~ so I feel like she should be learning way more and we should be spending more time on school.)
