My favorite Marriage resources

Today I thought I would share some marriage resources with you all!!!

The best advice I ever recieved on having a successful marriage was from my Mother In Law... (I know right?)  She told us to work on the problems before we had them!  Didn't quite make sense to me, but hey we started with a marraige study (ok, God threw away all other options for us, and we were stuck with this one with only about 1 yr of marriage under our belt, we thought it was silly!)  But you know what, it has helped down the road.

Our favorite marriage book has got to be Love and Respect By Emmerson Eggerich.  Basically breaks down that a man needs respect (and wouldn't you guess, God commands the wife to respect her husband?) and the wife needs love (and guess what?  husbands are commanded to love their wife!) and it is all based on Ephesians 5:33  However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Some of the websites that I love are:

http://www.the-generous-wife.com/ (great daily tips on being a generous wife)

http://www.the-generous-husband.com/ (her husband's blog on being a generous husband!)

Of course there is Proverbs 31... It helps with being a godly woman!
10 [b]A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

That is it for now, just wanted to share a few with you.  Browse and please share your favorites with me! I am always wanting to find new ones.  And remember to work on your marriage before their are problems... I believe the marriage is such a threat against satan that he will use anything he can to drive a wedge between a man and wife.  Who else do you have such an intimate relationship with?

Crazy Life

I used to yearn for the days when our lives would be crazy, when we would have different activities during the week.  Now we are there!

Back when the hubby and I first got married we hadn't made it a priority to find a church and be active in it.  We attended one for a while, then when we started traveling with his work, we would attend one here or there, but were never in a place long enough to really get involved.

Now we are settled, have found a home church and well, looking at our calendar we attend some church function about 5 times a week!  And we aren't even on committees (such as facilities, women's ministry,etc!).

And you know what?  I LOVE IT!!!  :)  I love being part of a church family where there are many different things going on!  Where you are pushed to learn more and advance on your walk with God.  Just like your house at home, the church needs it's members to help make it run!

I really don't know where I was going with this... Just enjoying where we are in life!  I know in the next few weeks life is going to get even crazier!  Our Perspectives class is starting up, we will be doing our first Veggie Tales movie Premier, and then... Jacob will be starting some spring sport!!!

I am actually having to keep a calender of different events so we don't forget anything!  I used to dream of the day when I would have to actually do this! I know I have wierd strange dreams.  Oh and the kids haven't even started school yet!

Oh I love where God has brought us and although I am looking forward to what is in the future, I will cherish the stage we are in now and not try to live for tomorrow, but enjoy life today!

Our 1st ever TASTY TUESDAY!

I thought a Tasty Tuesday would be a good routine for me to get into!  I love to cook, although they don't always turn out, and am always looking for new recipes, techniques and toys!!!  (Hubby and I can not go to kitchen stores as we just love kitchen toys and it never fails that one of us is getting one for almost every holiday!)

So... Today I am kicking off with an egg bake!  I had no idea how to make these until 2 years ago when I joined MOPS back east and it seemed like everyone was making them... And not wanting to miss out, I looked it up, tried one and loved it!

They are pretty easy!  Just think of a huge omelet you pop in the oven!

You add whatever you want or have on hand, as much as you want!

So here is mine for today, I am sharing it with the ladies from our church at our welcome back brunch!

I chopped up 1 large onion, 1 red pepper and 1 green pepper.  I then sauteed them (trying something new...) individually (well peppers together).  I also chopped up about 5 smaller potatoes, and cooked them up a little as well.  At this point I was wishing I had some mushrooms... Oh well next time...

All the while cooking up 1 tube of sausage.  (Bacon is yummy too, almost added that as well)

Then mix it all together in a 13x9 pan.  Whip up 18 eggs with milk (just like you would for scrambled eggs)... I tried with 12 it just didn't seem like enough! :)  This is where I am happy to have egg makers outside!

I just think all the colors are beautiful!

Then mix in cheese!!! Oh I love cheese so there probably is a little much in there, or at least there will be when I top the entire casserole with more cheese!!!  I used Colby Jack, but if you like Pepper Jack, that would be good, as would sharp cheddar, Swiss, a mix, whatever you have and prefer!

I also sprinkled on some salt, pepper and garlic powder and mixed it in...  The one thing I love about this recipe is how versatile it is.  Whatever you have on hand or whatever you prefer works!

Pop in your 350 preheated oven for about an hour... I try to give myself a little extra time at the end just in case it needs to cook for a little longer!

Sorry there is now after picture for now (I will post it later).  I am trying to get this post out before the meeting and with 3 kids to get ready, I will just have to do it later!

And I thought I would share pictures of my babies sleeping! :)  Well, Jacob is starting to get up, but the light was "keeping his eyes closed"...  Gotta love 'em!

I hope you all have a blessed Tasty Tuesday and please share tips you might have with your egg bakes, or a different recipe!!!
