I am a worrier...  I worry about everything, money, clothes for the kids, our car and getting it fixed, Greg when he is at work, my family, and so many other things.  I really have tried hard to give it all over to God and trust that He knows what is going on and what will happen, but it is a struggle I deal with daily.

We are taking a Christian parenting Sunday School class right now (taught by our Mentor Mom from MOPs and her hubby!) and it is amazing.  They read an article on Sunday (and again at MOPs) from Trey Morgan, a husband, father and pastor down in Texas.  The one that struck me the most was :

■It must frustrate God when I worry about things. I can’t imagine the frustration of having one of my children worry about me providing for him. I can’t imagine one of my kids saying, “Dad, are you sure you’re going to be able to feed me, clothe me and take care of me?” I would say, “What do you think I am, a horrible father? Stop worrying, I’m going to take care of you.” But we still worry and God probably sits back and thinks, “Why are you worrying? Have I ever not been able to meet your needs?”

Can you imagine if your three year old came up to you and asked if you had enough $ for rent, for food, for the car to be fixed?  I would be devastated!  As parents it is our job to take car of our children, and not have them worry about these things.  Don't you think God feels the same way?
In Matthew 6:25 Jesus tells us "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?"  Jesus commands us not to worry.  Have you ever thought of it as a command NOT to worry?  I haven't, I struggle with it a lot!  This doesn't mean we are to just sit back and let life go, we have to be responsible with what God has given us.  But when something comes up, don't worry about it.  Pray.  Seek God's wisdom in the situation.  Trust Him that He knows everything that has happened, is happening and is going to happen!

Jesus continues on in verses 26 and 27 in Matthew 6, "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"  I find verse 27 almost humorous...  Worrying is stressful on your body, it probably can shorten your life!  Those with high stress (worry) tend to have higher blood pressure, and a strained heart.

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own." ~Matthew 6:33-34
I recommend reading Matthew 6:25-34 anytime you start to feel the weight of the world overwhelming you.  Seek God's kingdom first.  Simple as that!
